BIOGRAPHY

Prue accepts briefs in a variety of areas including appeals, administrative, commercial, constitutional, coronial, discrimination, employment and industrial, human rights, professional discipline, and work health and safety law. She accepts briefs across jurisdictions and is also a member of 6 St James Hall Chambers in Sydney.

Before joining the Bar, Prue worked for national and international law firms in Australia and Hong Kong, including King & Wood Mallesons and Linklaters.

Prue graduated from the Australian National University in 2002 with First Class Honours and the University Medal in Law. She went on to work as the associate to the Honourable Dyson Heydon AC QC on the High Court of Australia. She later undertook further study at Oxford University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) with Distinction and the Herbert Hart Prize in Jurisprudence. She has been an associate lecturer at the ANU law school for a number of years.

Prue is a member of the ACT Bar Council, board member of the Legal Aid Commission ACT, Chair of the ACT Bar Equal Opportunity Committee, member of the Law Council of Australia Equal Opportunity Committee, and member of the Women Lawyers Association ACT policy committee (for which she previously served as President).

Rates

Prue’s commercial rates for FY23/24 are $3,800 + GST per day and $400 + GST per hour.

Prue’s government rates are as agreed with the relevant agency on a brief-by-brief basis.

Delivering briefs

Prue prefers to receive her briefs in electronic format via the E-Brief Ready platform. Your firm does not need to be a subscriber to E-Brief Ready in order to send a brief to Prue this way. Once Prue has accepted the brief, she will provide you with a link to a portal on E-Brief Ready for you to upload the brief safely and securely. Booking hearings, mediations or conferences

Prue has an online booking page where you can schedule a hearing, mediation or conference directly into her calendar. Through this system you (and Prue) will also have the ability to cancel or reschedule your booking as you require.

You can also use this system to scroll through and check the days/times when Prue is available (non-available days are indicated with “n/a”). If it is essential that you make a booking on a day/time when Prue is not available, it is best to send Prue an email to enquire whether any of her existing bookings can be re-scheduled to accommodate this.
